Documentary on Gaza Medical Workers Wins BAFTA Award
A documentary highlighting Israel’s military operations against hospitals in Gaza and the deaths of approximately 1,700 Palestinian medics has earned the Best Current Affairs award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) ceremony.
During the acceptance speech, the filmmakers criticized the BBC for initially backing the project but later withdrawing its support, alleging censorship on the part of the broadcaster.
This recognition comes amid ongoing debates regarding media representation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The documentary has drawn attention to the humanitarian implications of the conflict and the challenges faced by medical personnel in conflict zones.
The BAFTA awards were held on May 11, 2026.
