'Ghana Must Go' bags banned at airports

The use of ‘Ghana Must Go’ travel bags by passengers at airports in Nigeria has been banned after several airlines complained about it.

This comes after Ethiopia Airline wrote to the regional manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

According to a circular by FAAN, titled, ‘Re: Prohibition of Usage Of Ghana Must Go’,  signed by Manager, Airport Services, Henok Gizachew, dated November 24, the ban is particularly for passengers travelling through the country’s international airports.

Gizachew, stated that the sack was banned by the authority because it has cost the airlines huge loss and also damaged the airports conveyor belt system.

He noted that passengers who wish to use Ghana Must Go to travel must have the bags well packaged in carton or hardcover of rectangular size.

The circular reads: “Please be informed that effective November 25, 2023, the use of Ghana Must Go to travel on our flight is hereby prohibited.

“The use of Ghana Must Go as a means of packaging baggage has cost the airlines huge loss and also damaging the conveyer belt system, not only on our flight but also on other foreign airlines, hence the prohibition.”

In 2017, Dubai introduced the same rule, tagging Ghana Must Go bags “non-compliance baggage”. Also in 2017, Air France banned the use of Ghana Must Go bags.
