Meeting Aims to Resolve APC Crisis in Benue

BENUE, Nigeria — George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia are currently engaged in a closed-door meeting at the Benue State Government House.

This meeting follows a directive from President Bola Tinubu, urging both leaders to expedite the resolution of their differences. Originally set for Thursday, April 30, 2026, the meeting was rescheduled and is now taking place on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to address a protracted internal crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Attendees include 10 elders and stakeholders from Akume’s camp, an equal number from Governor Alia’s camp, as well as members of the Benue State House of Assembly, National Assembly representatives from the state, and various federal government appointees.
