Gunmen abduct 14 Islamic school students in Niger

Fourteen students were abducted on Saturday while assisting their teacher, known locally as a Mallam, with a maize harvest on his farm in Tungan-Bako village, Niger State.
Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Command, confirmed the incident on Monday, clarifying that the number of abducted students is 14, contrary to earlier reports that suggested 50 individuals were taken.
Abiodun stated that joint security operatives have initiated rescue efforts to secure the release of the students. He added, “Joint security rescue efforts are ongoing; further developments will be communicated.”
