Hardship: What opposition parties can do differently in Nigeria – Agahiu

University Professor Offers Recommendations to Opposition Parties on Economic Challenges

ABUJA — Professor Adams Agahiu, a prominent academic and director of the National Education Summit in Nigeria, has proposed strategies for opposition political parties to address the economic difficulties facing the nation.

In statements made to journalists on Monday, Agahiu urged these parties to collaborate with the federal government to foster rapid economic growth and enhance grassroots development, rather than resorting to negative criticism.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s current political and economic reforms present a unique opportunity to eliminate persistent barriers to national prosperity. “The political and economic structures that have long undermined Nigerians’ prosperity are being steadily replaced through the realignment of the economy to enable full participation,” Agahiu stated.

Agahiu also highlighted that the current administration has upheld democratic principles since its inauguration in 2023, including respect for the rule of law, the separation of powers, and the protection of citizens’ rights. He encouraged Nigerians to dismiss what he termed misinformation being propagated by opposition groups against the government.
