Hardship: ‘Your second term would be hellfire’ – Speed Darlington fault Tinubu’s re-election bid

Nigerian Singer Criticizes President Tinubu’s Re-election Bid Amid Economic Challenges

LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has voiced his objections to President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election, citing the country’s economic struggles.

In a video posted Wednesday on Instagram, Speed Darlington criticized the president’s tenure since taking office in 2023. He pointed to perceived failures in government policy, economic management, and rising insecurity under Tinubu’s administration.

Darlington argued that a second term for Tinubu would lead to detrimental consequences for Nigerians. “From your first term, we already know that your second term is going to be hell fire,” he stated.

The musician questioned the rationale behind Tinubu’s re-election campaign, particularly following the removal of fuel subsidies, which he believes has contributed to the rising cost of living. “What qualifies you for a second term?” he asked, emphasizing concerns over the increasing insecurity across the nation.

In his critique, Darlington expressed skepticism about Tinubu’s capacity to effectively govern, stating, “You don’t know the job. You haven’t done anything about the rising insecurity.”
