Nafisat, the wife of Nigerian actor Akin Olaiya, has publicly disclosed the reasons for her departure from their marital home.

Olaiya and Nafisat were united in marriage in July 2025, following the dissolution of his first marriage. However, rumors of their separation began circulating online less than five months after their wedding.

On June 22, 2026, Olaiya confirmed the couple’s separation through a statement, asserting that Nafisat left their home without any conflict and that attempts to reconcile were unsuccessful.

In a subsequent social media video, Nafisat responded to Olaiya’s remarks and addressed her earlier allegations of abuse. She stated that her decision to leave was influenced by Olaiya’s romantic involvement with her best friend, who served as her chief bridesmaid.

“Can you imagine that after the mistreatment, pain, and everything, he ends up marrying your own best friend?” Nafisat said. “It’s not in my nature to share my side of the story publicly, as my culture does not encourage it.”
