He must be mad – Oyedepo reacts to Sheikh Jingir’s controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket remarks

Bishop David Oyedepo Responds to Islamic Cleric’s Remarks

Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Winners Chapel Worldwide, has condemned comments made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir regarding the status of Christians in Nigeria.

During a political event in Kano State earlier this month, Jingir asserted that Nigeria is predominantly a Muslim nation, suggesting that Christians hold a subordinate position in the country. His remarks were made in defense of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the upcoming January elections, where he claimed that Muslims outnumber Christians.

The comments provoked widespread outrage among Christian communities, with calls for Jingir’s arrest coming from various sectors, including some prominent Muslim leaders.

In a sermon captured in a widely circulated video, Oyedepo countered Jingir’s assertions, highlighting the vibrant presence of Christians in Nigeria. He challenged those supporting Jingir to observe the attendance at churches, stating, “Watch Redemption Camp, Salvation Ministries, Dunamis, and other ministries in Nigeria. And someone will stand and say Nigeria is an Islamic nation? Is he mad? Yes, he must be mad.”

Additionally, Oyedepo warned of impending “strange happenings” across the nation within the next year, stating, “Now, watch, there shall be strange happenings between now and the next twelve months in Nigeria.”
