Heavy rainfall destroys Niger bridge, cuts off 20 communities

Heavy rainfall has caused significant damage to the Yinti Bridge in the Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State, halting movement between more than 20 nearby communities.
The bridge served as a crucial link between Bida and Badeggi to Katcha, and its collapse has posed considerable challenges for residents who relied on it for daily travel.
Aishatu Lami Aliyu, the Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Ministry of Local Government Affairs, confirmed the incident in a statement. She noted that the destruction of the bridge has severely affected transportation for residents of Yinti and surrounding areas.
Furthermore, farmers in the impacted communities are struggling to access their fields and transport their agricultural products to local markets, exacerbating the situation for those dependent on farming for their livelihoods.
