Highlife legend Victor Olaiya dies at 89 – The Nation Nigeria

Highlife music legend Victor Abimbola Olaiya (additionally referred to as Dr Victor Olaiya) has died.

The favored musician handed on at midday on Wednesday on the Lagos College Educating Hospital (LUTH).

His report label, Evergreen Music Firm Restricted, broke the information in an announcement in Lagos.

“All the music world needs to announce the loss of life of a residing legend of highlife music, one of many final males standing, the final of the unique Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya (OON),” the label’s supervisor, Bimbo Esho, wrote on his Fb web page.

Olaiya sang the world-famous track, titled: Child Jowo.

He was 89.

In July 2013, he launched a music video remix of the track with 2Face Idibia and was acquired with a lot acclaim.

Talking on the way forward for highlife style, the trumpeter was quoted in an interview: “Excessive life has a fantastic future as a result of for it I dwell, for it I shall die.”
