Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnapped Wife of Late General

The Nigerian Army announced the successful rescue of Mrs. Amina Abubakar, the widow of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, who had been abducted by bandits along with her husband weeks earlier.

In a statement released by Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, the operation was conducted with the support of the Nigerian Air Force and represented a culmination of intensified search-and-rescue efforts carried out by troops from Operation Fansan Yamma.

According to the statement, troops engaged with the bandits at Tunga Village. During the encounter, the bandits shot Mrs. Abubakar before fleeing due to pressure from advancing forces.

Following her recovery, Mrs. Abubakar was evacuated and is currently receiving medical care at a military hospital, where she is responding to treatment.

The leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Mrs. Abubakar’s recovery and providing assistance to her family during this challenging time. They also indicated that operations would continue to track and neutralize those responsible for the abduction, with efforts aimed at eliminating terrorist threats across affected communities in Katsina and nationwide.
