I had phobia for marriage – Ruth Kadiri reveals why she kept her marriage secret

Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri recently shared insights into her decision to maintain privacy regarding her personal life, particularly at the outset of her marriage.
In a recent episode of the “Dear Ife” podcast, Kadiri disclosed that her anxieties about marriage led her to keep her relationship out of the public eye. She expressed concerns over the uncertainties that accompany such commitments, questioning whether her marriage would endure.
Kadiri, a mother of two, noted that her husband supported her wish for discretion, agreeing to a modest wedding ceremony with only 50 guests. “I had a phobia of marriage,” Kadiri said. “I was battling with the fear of the unknown and asking myself, ‘Am I going to make this decision and everything will now scatter?’ So, I wasn’t really ready to have a public marriage, and my husband was okay with it.”
The couple opted for a small gathering, with 25 guests invited by Kadiri and another 25 by her husband, Mr. Ezerika. Kadiri remarked, “If I were abroad, I guess we would have just probably walked to the registry and gotten married.”
Ruth Kadiri and Ezerika were wed in a private ceremony in November 2018. The couple welcomed their first daughter in August 2019 and their second daughter in July 2022.
