Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has publicly shared her ongoing battle with cancer, appealing for financial assistance from the Nigerian public to help cover her medical expenses.
A video featuring Anijekwu’s plea began circulating on social media on Tuesday. In the video, she revealed that this marks her second cancer diagnosis, and that the illness has now metastasized to various parts of her body.
“The cost of treatment has become overwhelming,” Anijekwu stated, expressing urgency for support. She detailed her recent medical history, explaining, “I underwent surgery and chemotherapy, but the cancer has returned. A doctor recently informed me that it has reached my bones, making treatment considerably more expensive.”
Anijekwu described the physical toll of her illness, noting that swelling has affected her hands and that both breasts have been impacted by the disease. “I need to live. I need to survive. I’m asking Nigerians to please help me,” she implored.
She emphasized that even small contributions could make a significant difference. “Your one naira or two naira can add up to something meaningful for me to access proper treatment,” she said.
