Big Brother Naija Season 7 Winner Reflects on Financial Regrets
Josephina Otabor, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, widely known as Phyna, expressed regret about her financial decisions following her victory in the reality show. During a recent livestream, she revealed that she wished she had invested the N100 million prize money, instead of using it to support family members.
Phyna acknowledged her youthful naivety at the time, stating that she did not manage the prize money wisely. She attributed part of her decision to a lack of financial guidance from her family.
“Instead of encouraging me to invest, my family members frequently requested financial assistance,” Phyna explained. “I believed I was helping by paying off their debts and making generous contributions, such as funding boreholes for relatives. However, when I began to decline requests, tensions arose.”
She noted that the change in her willingness to provide financial support led to conflicts within her family, including public criticism in the media when she could not meet their demands. “I now face the reality alone, while the money has run out,” Phyna lamented.
Phyna received a total of N100 million as the grand prize for her Season 7 win, comprising N50 million in cash and an additional N50 million in prizes from the show’s sponsors.
