Nigerian DJ Kulet Opens Up About Past Struggles During Church Service

LAGOS, Nigeria — Kudirat Gbemisola, known professionally as DJ Kulet, shared her transformative journey during a recent church service, revealing that she once lived as a sex worker in the Surulere area of Lagos State.

In a video that has gained traction on social media, Kulet expressed gratitude to God while recounting her past, stating, “I just want to say thank you, Jesus. My story here in Surulere was a very bad one. Everybody knows me because I grew up in Lawanson. But I repented, and God removed me from the gutter.”

On her Instagram account, she elaborated on the challenges that highlighted her life before her transformation. “I was once homeless and slept around. Of course, you know me because I was very popular then. I was into prostitution,” she wrote. Kulet described how her circumstances led to her living in inadequate conditions, noting that a former landlord did not maintain the property for two years.

Reflecting on her current situation, she described a dramatic improvement in her living conditions. “After two years of living in a house without a toilet, I was elevated to a four-bedroom ensuite apartment where I’m currently living through my work as a DJ. Fast-forward to April last year, God bought a house for me here in the same Surulere. I did not sleep around to pay; I paid in full with agent money,” she stated.

Kulet’s story serves as a testament to her resilience and the changes she has made in her life. This disclosure follows her previous revelations regarding trauma she experienced in her youth.
