Actress Rosy Meurer Addresses Backlash Over Marriage Controversy

Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has responded to criticism regarding her inconsistent statements about the marriage of Tonto Dikeh and Olakunle Churchill.

Meurer’s comments come just hours after she denied any knowledge of or personal relationship with Dikeh while she was married to Churchill. Reports indicate that the couple divorced in 2017 amid allegations of Churchill’s extramarital affair with Meurer, who had been described as Dikeh’s close friend.

In a previously released video, Meurer referred to Churchill and Dikeh as “family friends,” stating, “He (Churchill) and his wife remain family to me. We once hung out together before.” Four years after their divorce, Meurer married Churchill, a union that stirred significant controversy and accusations on social media of her having taken her best friend’s husband.

On Wednesday, Meurer addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding her marriage in a new Instagram video, during which she reiterated her claim of not having had any past relationship with Dikeh.

Following her latest statement, Meurer faced backlash for what many perceived as inconsistency.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Meurer attributed her prior comments to pressure from her management team, claiming she felt compelled to present a narrative she did not believe. “I was forced to lie,” she stated. “You want me to hang on to the nonsense old video I made in fear due to the fact that I was so young and innocent.”

She further elaborated that her newfound perspective, gained through life experience, allows her to speak freely. “Right now whatever I say is THE REAL TRUTH. I am now older and wiser. No PR team can force me to say what they believe is better than my truth,” she added.
