Peter Obi Promises Tough Stance on Election Fraud Ahead of 2027 Election

Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has declared that anyone found guilty of election rigging will face imprisonment under his administration.

In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday, Obi stated that the legal consequences would extend even to cases involving a single fraudulent vote.

“We need to restore integrity in our electoral process. I’ve said it before, and I will say it again: if I serve as president, anyone who rigs an election will go to jail,” Obi emphasized, highlighting his commitment to fostering a transparent electoral system.

The former governor of Anambra State also addressed issues of political engagement, asserting that his government would not persecute political parties, including opposition groups. He reiterated the importance of collaboration and inclusion in decisions impacting the nation.

Obi criticized the restrictions placed on his campaign activities in several states, asserting that all candidates should be permitted to campaign freely, irrespective of their political affiliations.

Moreover, he expressed his intention to involve opposition members in governmental discussions during his international travels, further underscoring his vision for a more inclusive political landscape in Nigeria as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
