If using Afod brings disrespect, change to your father’s name – Wumi Toriola blasts Desola [VIDEO]

Wumi has responded to Desola’s recent criticism of theatre professionals, following an incident in which Desola claimed to have experienced disrespect at a celebrity event. During the gathering, the 44-year-old Desola, who did not mention specific names, expressed her frustrations regarding the treatment she received.

In her statement, Wumi suggested that if Desola feels disrespected by her married name, she should consider reverting to her maiden name. “If you think that the name Afod is giving you problems and disrespect, you can change to your father’s name or use something else like Desola Kilanko,” Wumi said. She emphasized her concerns regarding Desola’s generalization of theatre professionals, describing it as insulting and disrespectful.

Wumi further expressed her frustration, stating, “If you have issues with anybody, kindly put their names, pictures, or mention them in your videos. Saying theatre people is disrespectful to the community that supports my work.” She also recalled a past conflict in which she refrained from speaking out due to her respect for Desola’s former husband.

“This is getting too much,” Wumi stated. “If you have an issue with anyone, please call them out. It’s getting unbearable.” She reminded Desola that they share a common background, having both grown up in Agege. Wumi concluded by highlighting the need for respectful dialogue within the theatre community.
