‘I’m greatly saddened’ – Kwankwaso mourns ex-National Assembly clerk, Fika
NDC Vice Presidential Candidate Mourns Former National Assembly Clerk
Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the vice presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his condolences following the death of former National Assembly Clerk Adamu Mohammed Fika.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Saturday, Kwankwaso highlighted Fika’s significant contributions to establishing the administrative framework of Nigeria’s legislature. He noted their collaboration during the Third Republic, when Kwankwaso served as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. Kwankwaso described Fika as a disciplined and professional administrator whose dedication commanded respect.
“I received with sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah the news of Dr. Adamu Mohammed Fika’s passing,” Kwankwaso stated. Fika, who held the honorary title of CFR and was also known as the Zaura Kura of Fika, continued to serve the legislative community as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Council of Retired Clerks and Secretaries of the National Assembly prior to his death.
On behalf of his family, the Kwankwasiyya Movement, NDC members, and colleagues from the 1992–1993 National Assembly, Kwankwaso extended heartfelt condolences to Fika’s family, the residents of the Fika Emirate, the government and people of Yobe State, as well as the leadership and staff of the National Assembly. He remarked on the collective grief at the loss of such a prominent figure.
Kwankwaso concluded with a prayer for Fika’s forgiveness and peaceful repose, wishing strength and patience to his family in this difficult time.
