‘I’m now fighting for my new country’ — Lord of Ajasa becomes US citizen


Veteran Nigerian rapper Olusegun Osaniyi, widely known as Lord of Ajasa, has announced his new status as a United States citizen.

The Yoruba rap pioneer revealed the news on Instagram, sharing videos and photos with his wife, Funmi. In one video, he showed his U.S. citizenship certificate next to the American flag before making the announcement to his followers.

“My fans, I’m now a U.S. citizen; you all should know. This is my new country’s flag. I’m now fighting for my new country,” he stated.

In addition to the citizenship certificate, Lord of Ajasa posted a photo of himself and Funmi holding the American flag, accompanied by a message of gratitude that read, “Thank You America.”

Lord of Ajasa gained prominence in the early 2000s and is considered a pioneer of mainstream Yoruba rap in Nigeria. He is known for his hit songs such as “Ma Yi Lo,” “Le Fenu So,” and “Esha Lo Bade,” and has collaborated with notable artists including 9ice, Olamide, and the late Da Grin.
