Insecurity: Nigerians now beg terrorists for their lives – Baba Yusuf

Political Strategist Critiques Nigeria’s Rising Insecurity

Nigerian political strategist Baba Yusuf has expressed concern over the escalating insecurity in the country, warning that the situation is deteriorating.

In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Friday, Yusuf articulated his distress, stating that residents are now finding themselves in desperate situations, pleading with terrorists for their lives.

“For 17 years, Nigeria has confronted multidimensional insecurity,” he said. “It has reached a point where citizens have lost faith in their leaders.”

Yusuf urged the government to investigate the allocation of funds for security, questioning why substantial resources have not yielded effective results.

“Citizens are now aligning with terrorists not to engage in combat but to plead for their safety,” he added.

He further emphasized the need for legislative oversight, citing Section 88 and 89 of the 1999 Constitution, which grants the National Assembly the authority to conduct investigations. Yusuf criticized the government’s response, describing it as more reactive than proactive.

“The scrutiny provided by the constitution must ensure accountability and timely action,” he concluded.
