‘It’s not Tinubu’ – Femi Kuti reveals Nigeria’s real problem

Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not the primary issue confronting Nigeria. During a recent appearance on the Good News Naija podcast, Kuti attributed the country’s challenges to systemic institutional corruption.

Kuti asserted that a robust judicial system could have prevented Tinubu from running for president, citing multiple allegations against him. “If all the allegations against him are true, how did he contest?” Kuti said. He emphasized that the judiciary’s failure to intervene reflects a broader issue within Nigeria’s leadership, where those in power often belong to a corrupt elite class.

The musician further expressed concern about how pervasive corruption undermines the aspirations of Nigeria’s youth. “If we had men and women of calibre and integrity, he wouldn’t have been able to contest in the first place,” Kuti added, highlighting his belief that the entrenched corruption poses a significant obstacle to the nation’s progress.
