Jabeur’s tearful speech after ‘painful’ defeat

Marketa Vondrousova claims the first set 6-4.

She takes in cleanly with three set points in hand.

Ons Jabeur looked to have fallen to pieces in the back half of the set.

“She started off well, was able to get the early break, Jabeur. She tried to be aggressive and tried to control the play,” Jelena Dokic says in commentary for Nine.

“But Vondrousova, it was the consistency, really. She cut down on the unforced errors, extended the points, moved really well and was definitely the one that was steadier, especially as the set went on.

“There was real opportunity for Jabeur. She went up 4-2,served for 5-2 and when she didn’t hold serve from there Vondrousova just grew in confidence. Great first serve percentage as well. Served it out to love to take that opening set 6-4.”
