JAMB shifts DE registration deadline, adds new centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for the sale of Direct Entry (DE) application forms until May 8, 2026.
The decision was made public in a statement released Wednesday via X by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin. He noted that the extension aims to provide all qualified candidates with sufficient opportunity to pursue higher education.
“As part of measures aimed at ensuring that no Direct Entry prospective candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education in the country, JAMB has extended the sale of DE application documents to May 8, 2026,” the statement read.
In addition to the deadline extension, JAMB approved the establishment of five new registration centers to facilitate the application process, particularly in areas experiencing high demand. The new centers are located at the Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL) Mini Campus at the University of Ilorin, Bells University of Technology in Ota, Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye, the Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre at the Federal College of Education Special, Oyo, and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House) in Iwaya, Sabo, Lagos. These centers became operational on April 30, 2026.
The new centers aim to reduce congestion and enhance access for candidates completing their Direct Entry registration.
