Jigawa govt blames failed bank transfer for delay in NECO results
JIGAWA, Nigeria — The Jigawa State Government has stated that a banking issue caused a delay in the release of the National Examinations Council (NECO) results for students in public secondary schools.
Prof. Isa Chamo, the State Commissioner for Higher Education, explained that the delay stemmed from a failed bank transaction intended for the payment to NECO. “The delay in results was due to a failed bank transfer; funds paid to NECO were returned because of a banking problem,” Chamo said.
To address the issue, the state government acted swiftly to rectify the payment process. Chamo confirmed that the matter was resolved after NECO acknowledged receipt of the funds. Consequently, students in public schools will be able to access their results starting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Chamo encouraged students, parents, and guardians to remain calm, emphasizing that the state government has fulfilled all outstanding examination fees and resolved the issue with NECO. “No student will be left behind,” he reaffirmed, highlighting the commitment of Governor Umar Namadi’s administration to prioritize education.
NECO had released the results for the 2027 Senior School Certificate Examination on September 24, 2027, but public school candidates in Jigawa experienced delays in accessing their results for several days.
