Jonathan must reject proxy presidential ticket — Keyamo

Keyamo Urges Jonathan to Distinguish Himself from Proxy Presidential Ticket

ABUJA — Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to publicly disassociate himself from reports suggesting he may be involved in a presidential ticket being promoted by a political group.

In a statement released on his social media platform, Keyamo characterized the situation as a “bizarre comedy” and criticized the individuals behind these claims for allegedly involving Jonathan in what he termed a political charade.

Keyamo expressed concern over the legitimacy of those who reportedly sought to offer Jonathan the presidential ticket, noting that they are not recognized political actors and lack registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“This is some kind of bizarre comedy taken too far by supposedly grown adults, including individuals who once held positions of power in this country,” Keyamo remarked. He emphasized the unusual nature of providing a presidential ticket to a former head of state through individuals not officially recognized in the political landscape.

He stated, “It is disheartening that these individuals would drag such a revered figure into their charade, which is certainly a journey to nowhere.”

Keyamo urged Jonathan to promptly clarify his stance on the matter to dispel any misconceptions regarding his involvement. “For the sake of his global image, President Goodluck Jonathan must immediately issue a strong ‘No, thank you’ statement,” Keyamo advised.

He warned that failure to take action could reignite public discussion about Jonathan’s presidency and the circumstances surrounding his 2015 electoral defeat. “Lest Nigerians begin to recall the ‘clueless’ campaign that resulted in his ousting as the first sitting president removed from office,” Keyamo added.
