Kano students condemn rising political thuggery

Kano State Students Forum Expresses Alarm Over Political Thuggery

KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Independent Students Consultative Forum (KSISCF) has raised alarms about increasing incidents of political thuggery in the region, which they claim has resulted in the deaths of innocent individuals. The group warned that such violence undermines the prospects for education in the state.

During the inauguration of the State Executives and Abba Kabir Yusuf Students’ Campus Ambassadors at the NUJ Press Centre on Sunday, forum representatives condemned the rise in politically motivated violence, calling it an unacceptable threat to public safety.

“We categorically debunk and condemn any politician, regardless of party affiliation, who supports or sponsors thuggery in Kano State,” said Abubakar Saad, the chairman of the forum.

Saad emphasized, “Education cannot flourish in an atmosphere of violence and fear. Kano belongs to students, traders, farmers, and law-abiding citizens—not political thugs.”

The KSISCF urged law enforcement agencies to take decisive action against those who fund and facilitate political violence, calling for thorough investigations, arrests, and prosecutions without bias.
