Kenya Confirms Second Ebola Case, Steps Up Contact Tracing –

Kenya has reported a second confirmed case of Ebola caused by the Bundibugyo strain. The latest patient is a 39-year-old man who is a close family member of the first confirmed case.
The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that the individual was already in quarantine and being monitored daily when he began experiencing symptoms on October 13. He reported fever, fatigue, and joint pain, prompting health officials to isolate him and collect samples for testing.
Results from two laboratories confirmed the presence of the virus. The patient has since been transferred to a designated treatment center, where he is receiving supportive care.
With this latest case, Kenya has now recorded two confirmed cases of Bundibugyo Ebola, along with one fatality. The first patient, a Kenyan national who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo, died on October 5 after testing positive for the virus.
