Kidnapped 13-year-old girl dies hours after release by bandits in Kaduna

Bandits Release 13-Year-Old in Kaduna, Girl Dies Shortly Afterward
KADUNA, Nigeria — Thirteen-year-old Hassana Bulus has died just hours after being freed by kidnappers in Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Her release occurred on November 2, 2026, following her abduction alongside several others from Awon village on April 20.
Reuben Buhari, a former senior special assistant on media and publicity to the late Kaduna State Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, confirmed the news on his verified Facebook page on Thursday. He noted that Hassana spent nearly seven months in captivity before her release.
Buhari reported that Hassana was taken from her home by armed bandits and held in a remote location. “For seven long months, this little girl was held captive, enduring pain and horrors no 13-year-old should ever have to experience,” he wrote.
After her release, Hassana was transported to a local health facility in Kachia, but she passed away on November 3, only hours after returning to freedom.
