Kidnappers abduct two visually impaired persons in Plateau

The Chairman of the Plateau State chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Shindol Aaron, expressed grave concern on Tuesday regarding the abduction of two visually impaired individuals by suspected kidnappers in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement, Aaron explained that the victims were part of a group of nine individuals selected to attend a training program in Benue State. He noted that the group departed from Jos but received notification that the event had been postponed, prompting them to return to their home base.
It was on their return journey to Jos that the group encountered the kidnappers. According to Aaron, seven members of the group managed to escape, while two—one male and one female—were taken captive. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Monday.
“I have not spoken with the kidnappers directly, but I was informed that they are requesting a ransom from a contact,” Aaron said. He confirmed that the incident has been reported to relevant security agencies, which are currently working to secure the victims’ release.
Another member of the association corroborated the details of the abduction, reporting that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N50 million. “They expect this amount for the release of the two individuals. Where do they expect us to find such money?” the member questioned.
As of the time of this report, attempts to reach Alabo Alfred, spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, for comment were unsuccessful.
