Kogi councillor dies after days in captivity

Rosemary Aduku, the councillor for Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, has died after being held captive for several days. The announcement of her death was made on Friday in a statement issued by Dr. Ameh Williams, chairman of the Olamaboro Local Government, on behalf of the Olamaboro Executive Council.
In the statement, Williams described Aduku, affectionately known as Hon. Rosella, as a dedicated and humble leader who prioritized the well-being of those around her.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden demise of our dear sister and colleague, Hon. Mrs. Rosemary Aduku, the Honorable Councillor representing the good people of Ogugu Ward III in the 8th Olamaboro Legislative Council,” the statement read.
Williams noted Aduku’s commitment to making those around her happy, emphasizing her down-to-earth nature and reliability. Despite her life being cut short, he expressed hope that her legacy would bring solace to those grieving her loss.
The statement included prayers for Aduku’s family, her colleagues in the Olamaboro 8 Legislative Council, and the community at large, offering support during this difficult time.
The burial service for Rosemary Aduku is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at her family compound in Ogugu Center. The Olamaboro Executive Council has invited members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join in honoring her memory.
