Labour union denies directing pensioners to submit files to Imo SSG

NLC and NUP Dismiss Fraudulent Claims Regarding Pension Payments in Imo State
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Imo State have refuted claims urging pensioners to submit personal documents to the office of the Secretary to the State Government for the payment of gratuities.
In a joint press statement, NLC State Chairperson Uche Chigemezu Nwigwe and NUP State Chairman JB Ugochukwu labeled the information as misleading and fraudulent, asserting that it aims to exploit vulnerable members of the public.
The unions emphasized that the report was unauthorized and did not originate from either organization. “Our engagement with the State Government regarding the payment of the next batch of gratuities is ongoing, and Governor Hope Uzodinma remains committed to fulfilling his promise,” the statement read.
Pensioners were urged to disregard the false information and to be vigilant against scams that demand money or personal details related to gratuity payments.
For accurate updates and inquiries on gratuity matters, the unions advised pensioners to contact the NUP office or the NLC Secretariat.
The leadership of both organizations reaffirmed their dedication to safeguarding the interests and welfare of pensioners and workers.
