Nollywood Actor Bucci Franklin Reflects on Challenging Childhood
Award-winning Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin recently shared insights about his early life, which he described as “messy.” In an interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Franklin revealed that he was raised solely by his mother after his father abandoned the family.
Franklin spoke candidly about the negative impact of his father’s absence, noting that at one point in his youth, he turned to drugs as a means of coping with the emotional void. “I was a hot mess as a child. My dad abandoned me. My mom raised me alone, and I turned to drugs,” Franklin said.
He attributed his recovery from addiction to the unwavering support and efforts of his mother, whom he credits for his success both in life and in his acting career.
During the interview, Franklin emphasized the challenges faced by single parents, particularly highlighting the importance of a father figure in a child’s life, especially for boys.
