Lagos Police Commissioner Inspects Pan-Atlantic University Security Following Viral Video
LAGOS — The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh, conducted a security inspection at Pan-Atlantic University in Lekki on Wednesday. This visit followed the emergence of a viral video featuring two masked individuals near the institution.
Accompanied by officers from the Lagos State Police Command, Jimoh’s inspection aimed to evaluate the current security situation and reassure students, staff, and parents of ongoing safety measures.
During the visit, Jimoh met with university management and highlighted the necessity of enhancing security protocols both on and around the campus to mitigate potential risks. He provided practical recommendations to improve security while cautioning against actions that might undermine existing protections.
A statement from the Lagos State Police Command underscored Jimoh’s emphasis on proactive measures, particularly focusing on perimeter surveillance, access control, and collaboration with relevant security agencies.
In a bid to strengthen security measures around the university and nearby communities, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has initiated the deployment of surveillance drones to assist law enforcement efforts in the area. This deployment, facilitated by the Lagos State Government, is designed to enhance aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention in the Lekki vicinity.
During his visit, Jimoh reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring safety for all residents of Lagos State. He assured the university community that the police are prepared to address any security concerns promptly, fostering a safe environment for academic and lawful activities.
The commissioner also urged continuous cooperation between the institution and security agencies while stressing the importance of vigilance against emerging threats.
“The Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across Lagos State,” Jimoh stated. He encouraged community members to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its dedication to public safety, urging residents to remain alert and share timely information with law enforcement. Residents were also reminded to utilize the command’s emergency lines for reporting security-related incidents.
