Lagos State Orders Waste Evacuation Along Egbeda and Igando Axis

LAGOS — Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, has ordered the immediate removal of waste along the Egbeda and Igando corridor. The cleanup operation is scheduled for completion by Tuesday night.

The decision follows numerous complaints regarding the accumulation of refuse in the area. Wahab emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “We will clear the waste in the Egbeda and Igando axis tonight and ensure continuous patrols in the area.”

He indicated that the patrols are intended to deter indiscriminate dumping and maintain environmental sanitation following the cleanup.

Wahab reiterated the state government’s commitment to keeping Lagos clean and highlighted the ongoing enforcement of proper waste disposal practices throughout the city. He urged residents to support these efforts by disposing of waste responsibly and adhering to approved waste collection schedules.
