LaLiga: Mourinho mocks Santander fans after Real Madrid’s 3-0 win
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho addressed the media following his team’s 3-0 victory over Racing Santander in La Liga on Sunday, directing critical remarks toward the home fans’ understanding of the game.
Mourinho expressed admiration for the stadium and its supporters but noted that they seemed confused by the rules of play. “I love this stadium and I love the Racing fans,” he stated. “They don’t come to attend a show or watch a movie; they come to participate in the match and make things very difficult for the opponents.”
He continued, highlighting the fans’ reactions to referee decisions throughout the match. “They protested against every decision of the referee, especially because they did not know the rules well,” he said. “And of course, I understand, because the rules change so much.”
Tensions mounted in the stadium when Racing Santander believed they had a chance to reduce their deficit with a penalty kick. However, a VAR review overturned the initial decision, eliciting outrage from the local supporters.
