Lecturer suspended for claiming Keke riders earn more than professors in ABSU

The management of Abia State University (ABSU) has suspended Professor Nnamdi Nwaeze, a lecturer in the Department of Economics, effective immediately. The decision follows allegations made by Nwaeze on his Facebook page, where he claimed that some professors at the university earn less than 400,000 Naira monthly. He further asserted that the total earnings of some tricycle operators in the region surpass those of the university’s faculty members.

In response, the university’s administration stated that Nwaeze’s social media comments were detrimental to the institution’s interests. The suspension notice was issued by Chijioke Nwogu, the Public Relations Officer and Deputy Registrar.

Nwogu indicated that an investigative panel has been established to review the situation and address the concerns raised by the allegations.
