In the second Good Friday NRL clash, reigning premiers the Panthers will square off with the Broncos in Penrith – and Brisbane will be without its best player.
Megastar front-rower Payne Haas will not lace up the boots after being slapped with a one-match ban for his scuffle with teammate Albert Kelly, which was made public when Nine and Sydney Morning Herald journalist Michael Chammas released footage of the fight early this month.
Haas was hit with a one-game ban and $10,000 penalty, while Kelly received a one-match ban and $5000 fine.
It’s a terrible time for the Broncos to be stripped of Haas with the battling club looking to break a three-match losing streak, after defeats to the Cowboys, Warriors and Roosters.
The Panthers are the only undefeated team after the first five rounds of the season.
