LIVE: Kiwis shaken by young gun’s horror injury

We’ve had a major stoppage in the game here after Kiwis young gun Amelia Pasikala appeared to break her leg in an ugly ‘hip-drop’ tackle.

As she did with her try just moments earlier, Pasikala attempted to power through multiple defenders before she was dragged down in a tackle that went a little too low.

She laid on the ground writhing in pain before being stretchered off Eden Park.

The players from both teams are visibly shaken and get into two huddles to gather their thoughts as the medicos tended to Pasikala.

Ilaisaane Taufa from Tonga is sent off after the tackle.

”You could hear the distress. Oh no,” says Nine’s lead commentator, Brenton Speed.

“I think we just heard the referee suggest that her leg has been broken by this hip-drop.

“From ecstacy in the try to agony. Such an unfortunate injury and this is why the hip-drop has been taken out of the game if we can.”
