LIVE: ‘Left field’ candidate emerges in race for Eels job

Michael Ennis has emerged as a “left field” candidate in the race for the vacant head coaching role at the Eels.

According to 9News and The Sydney Morning Herald’s Michael Chammas, Ennis’ reputation as a great talker and motivator has him in the running.

But a distinct lack of coaching experience means he’s an outside chance.

“Mick’s quite well regarded,” Chammas said on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.

“People I’ve spoken to said he’s one of the best talkers and motivators in the game.

“Whether or not he’s had enough experience or not to step into the Parramatta job, time will tell.”

Chammas said the four obvious candidates at the moment are Jason Ryles, Josh Hannay, Michael Maguire and Justin Holbrook.
