LIVE: Nike boss’ astonishing Matildas jersey claim

Sam Kerr is the most recognisable Australian player at this World Cup – and for very good reason.

But one teammate threatens to steal the show from her skipper.

Former Matildas player Amy Harrison is tipping gun forward Caitlin Foord to star for the host nation.

“Sam Kerr, she’s a superstar… but one who I think is going to shine is Is Caitlin Foord,” Harrison told Nine’s Today.

“She goes under the radar under the shadow of Sam. I think she is an incredible player and so talented. I think if we have her at her very best the Matildas will do he well.”

Harrison – who has 13 caps for Australia – can’t wait to see the Aussies take on Ireland at Stadium Australia on Thursday.

“It’s going to be insane, I can’t wait,” she said.

“Ireland are obviously debutantes at this World Cup, but that doesn’t say anything about them in my opinion.

“I think they will be really strong. They’re a great defensive team. You know what the Irish people are like, they go out and fight to the very end. They are going to be very tough.I think it will be an awesome game.”
