David King believes that Carlton will pull of the trade of the period if they land Gold Coast Suns midfielder Elijah Hollands.

“I’m a massive fan of this guy,” King said.

Hollands was selected with pick 7 in the 2020 draft and if he lands at the Blues, he’ll be able to play with brother Ollie Hollands, who debuted for Carlton this year.

Carlton will likely offer one of their picks in the 20s to land Hollands.

King is confident that Hollands will slot right into Carlton’s midfield.

“You’re right, to be played out of position – put him in the midfield and let him go to work,” he said.

“True midfielders die on the wings; it’s just a different thing altogether. You’re out there where you’re possession-starved, all you do is run up, behind the ball, or run back behind it.”

King also believes the Blues are getting the best deal of the trade period.

“Of all the players that are talked about as these bargain buys, picks 30 and 40 or whatever, he’s the pick of the lot,” King said.

“That’s the best of the lot.”
