LIVE: Potential eye gouge incident set to be reviewed

Nine’s coverage has picked up a potential eye gouge from Jared Waerea-Hargreaves on Toafofoa Sipley.

Sipley stayed down after the incident.

Queensland great Billy Slater said the positioning of his hand meant he was flirting with danger.

“At the end of the day when you put your hands around someone’s face you’re always going to have something to worry about, whether they look at it or they deem it was accidental, it’ll be what it’ll be,” he said on Nine’s coverage.

“I don’t think he was put on report, Jared didn’t get a penalty for it, so the referees didn’t see anything in it but I’m sure the match review committee will have a look at it.”

Roosters premiership winner Sonny Bill Williams doesn’t think he’ll have too much to worry about.

“Jezza’s always running that fine line but it’s in the middle, there’s confrontation, he was probably looking for a handle and he found a face but it doesn’t look that bad from my point of view,” he said.

In other news, the second half has resumed.
