Love not same after year 2020 – Tekno claims 

Nigerian singer Augustine Kelechi, better known as Tekno, recently reflected on the state of love in contemporary society. In an interview with Cool FM Lagos, he noted a significant shift in romantic relationships since 2020.

According to Tekno, the COVID-19 lockdown caused many individuals to spend extended periods with their partners, leading to a reevaluation of their feelings. He suggested that this time together resulted in a sense of emotional fatigue for some, as they discovered they may not love their partners as deeply as they once believed.

“Since 2020, love is not the same,” Tekno said. “During the lockdown, people realized, ‘maybe I didn’t love this person as much as I think.’ We grew fatigued of the ones we thought we loved the most.”

He expressed concern about the rising rates of marital issues and infidelity following the pandemic. “Marriages don’t work,” he said, adding that even prominent figures are not immune to these challenges.

Reflecting on the portrayal of love in popular culture, Tekno lamented that movies, which once revolved around themes of love, now often emphasize superficiality. “It doesn’t feel organic,” he stated, marking a departure from earlier representations of romance in film and media.
