The movie, from GRAMMY®-winning director Melina Matsoukas and Emmy®-winning author Lena Waithe, will premier in Nigerian cinemas on 14 February 2020.

Waithe wrote the screenplay for Queen & Slim from a narrative by herself and bestselling creator James Frey (A Million Little Items, Katerina).

Whereas on a forgettable first date collectively in Ohio, a black man (Kaluuya) and a black girl (Jodie Turner-Smith), are pulled over for a minor visitors infraction.

The scenario escalates, with sudden and tragic outcomes, when the person kills the police officer in self-defense.

Terrified and in worry for his or her lives, the person, a retail worker, and the lady, a felony protection lawyer, are compelled to go on the run.

However the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly turn into an emblem of trauma, terror, grief and ache for individuals throughout the nation.

As they drive, these two unlikely fugitives will uncover themselves and one another in essentially the most dire and determined of circumstances and can forge a deep and highly effective love that may reveal their shared humanity and form the remainder of their lives.

The movie contains a 16-song soundtrack with tracks by Ms. Lauryn Hill, Lil Child, Vince Staples that includes 6lack X Mereba, Tiana Main 9 & EARTHGANG, Coast Contra that includes BJ The Chicago Child and Syd, plus traditional songs by Roy Ayers, Bilal, Mike Jones and others. Blood Orange composed the movie’s rating and is featured on the soundtrack.
