Mercy Johnson reportedly arrests Angela Okorie for cyber bullying

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been arrested for cyberbullying her colleague, Mercy Johnson. The arrest took place on January 27, 2026, at Okorie’s Lagos residence, carried out by operatives from the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Center based in Abuja. This revelation was made by journalist Seun Oloketuyi, who is also the founder of the BON Awards.
Following her arrest, Angela Okorie spent the night at Yaba, specifically in the Panti police station, before being flown to Abuja early the next morning for court proceedings related to the cybercrime allegations involving Mercy Johnson. Oloketuyi shared details of the incident on his Instagram, noting the circumstances surrounding Okorie’s detention and subsequent transfer to face legal consequences.
This arrest aligns with a recent statement made by Mercy Johnson, who had previously warned that cyberbullying towards her and her family would not be tolerated moving forward into the new year. This clash between the two actresses highlights ongoing issues within the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly regarding social media behavior and its repercussions.
The case has garnered attention in the media, given both actresses’ popularity and the significant implications of cyberbullying in contemporary society. Legal actions such as this are indicative of the broader movement toward accountability for online harassment.
As the narrative continues to unfold, it raises questions about the measures being taken by authorities to address cybercrime and the responsibility of public figures in maintaining a respectful online environment.
