Military delegation visits late Gen. Rabe Abubakar’s family, vows justice

Defence Headquarters Delegation Mourns Major General Rabe Abubakar
A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) visited the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retired) and the Katsina State Government on Sunday to express condolences following his recent passing.
The visit was confirmed in a statement released on Monday by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The delegation, led by Major General IM Abdullahi, Chief of Administration of the Army, conveyed the condolences of Chief of Defence Staff General OO Oluyede and the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
During the visit to the family home in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi lauded Major General Abubakar as a dedicated soldier who served the nation for over 30 years. He emphasized the late officer’s significant contributions to the Nigerian Army and the country’s security framework. Abdullahi reassured the family that security agencies are committed to bringing those responsible for Abubakar’s death to justice. He also presented a national flag to the family, honoring the late general’s service and sacrifice.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, Gado da Masun Katsina, expressed gratitude for the support from the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces during this difficult time.
The delegation also visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, representing Governor Dikko Radda.
In his remarks, Major General Abdullahi referred to Major General Abubakar as one of Katsina State’s prominent sons, whose contributions to the nation will be remembered. Deputy Governor Jobe described Abubakar’s passing as a significant loss to both the state and the country, noting that his dedication to national service would inspire future generations.
Jobe called for enhanced collaboration among stakeholders to combat insecurity and reaffirmed the state government’s support for military efforts aimed at restoring peace in the North-West.
Major General Abdullahi commended the Katsina State government for its ongoing support of security agencies, emphasizing that cooperation between military forces and the state remains vital for achieving lasting peace in the region.
Special prayers were held at both the family residence and the Government House in memory of the late officer.
Accompanying Major General Abdullahi were other senior military officials, including Major General WB Idris, Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA; Major General BP Koughna, General Officer Commanding 8 Division; Rear Admiral AM Haruna; Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi; Major General JS Bindawa (retired); Brigadier General SK Usman (retired); and Air Vice Marshal IS Kaita (retired).
