Prophet Isa El-Buba, the General Overseer of El-Buba Outreach Ministries, has condemned statements made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Yahya Jingir, who referred to Christians as “infidels” in a recent social media video.
In the video, Jingir asserted that those opposed to a Muslim-Muslim political ticket should leave Nigeria, claiming the country is the domain of Muslims.
In response, El-Buba accused Jingir of exacerbating religious division at a time when northern Nigeria faces significant challenges, including insecurity, poverty, and drug abuse. He emphasized the need for religious and political leaders to unite Nigerians and focus on solutions rather than comments that could increase sectarian tensions.
Addressing the issue, El-Buba expressed deep concern, stating that he believes leaders should prioritize peaceful coexistence as they age.
“I’m coming to every Nigerian with a very serious, heavy heart,” he said. “At this stage of our lives, we should begin to think about how we can all live together in peace.”
El-Buba also criticized Jingir’s remarks, saying, “You called Christians infidels? You mindless creature. Are you not ashamed? Banditry, criminality, and the highest levels of drug addiction are present in the north.”
He further noted his commitment to supporting Muslim communities in northern Nigeria, highlighting that he has provided assistance to thousands, despite lacking personal connections with many of them.
El-Buba’s remarks underscore a growing concern among leaders about the importance of fostering unity in a country grappling with multiple social issues.
