Pandemonium at Abuja Federal High Court as DSS Detains Sowore
ABUJA — The African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, was taken into custody by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday. This occurred shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar issued a remand order, directing that Sowore be held at the Kuje Correctional Centre until Wednesday.
Video footage from the courtroom shows heavily armed DSS personnel controlling the situation as they apprehended the activist.
The detention followed the revocation of Sowore’s bail by the judge. The ruling stemmed from allegations made by the DSS regarding public comments in which Sowore allegedly referred to President Bola Tinubu as a criminal.
Earlier in the proceedings, Justice Umar rejected a motion in which Sowore sought to have the judge recuse himself from the case. The defense argued that the single absence cited for the bail revocation was due to Sowore consulting with his new lead counsel, Olumide-Fusika, SAN, who had formally briefed the court on the matter.
This incident has drawn significant attention as legal proceedings continue.
