Music money is seasonal, football funds steady – Skales


Nigerian singer Skales recently weighed in on the ongoing debate regarding the earnings of footballers and musicians, asserting that soccer players generally enjoy more stable incomes than their musical counterparts.

During an appearance on the “Groovymono” show, Skales, known for his hit “Shake Body,” explained that footballers do not need to be starting players at their clubs to achieve financial success. In contrast, he said that musicians primarily earn substantial income when they are actively popular.

Skales emphasized that earnings in the music industry are often seasonal. He stated that while an artist may be successful today, their fortunes can change rapidly, making sustained relevance crucial. “Artists who have maintained consistent relevance often have some sort of divine backing,” he noted.

In his comparison, Skales mentioned that even lesser-known footballers can earn significant salaries without the same level of public recognition. “Music can also yield substantial earnings, but the nature of sports income is fundamentally different,” he said.
